Changing lifestyles, worsening food habits, deceptive diets and declining food quality
We often observe that our earlier generations have a better resistance to diseases and disorders than us; they not just live longer in general but they live better even at older age. They usually have better digestive systems, healthier skin & hair, stronger teeth, more enduring muscles and better functioning organs at large. The secret lies in the food they consumed over a large portion of their lives, especially in their formative years. Lifestyle was simpler, food full of nutrients, diet habits disciplined and junk food was virtually non-existent. Even stress levels then were nothing as compared to the current times.
So, what went wrong in the later generations? Well, a lot went wrong actually. To list a few, pollution, toxic industrial effluents, excessive use of fertilizers & pesticides, poor farming practices, disruptive use of natural resources, among many more, have been deteriorating the quality of soil, water and air. We are depriving ourselves of nutrient-rich food, worsened with poor food choices & habits as well as heavy consumption of over-processed food. Mass scale food production with longer shelf life has further added to the loss of food quality. So much so, that there is hardly any food item left today that is unprocessed! Everyday food like milk & butter, cheese, cottage cheese, curd, sugar, fruits, vegetables, grains, meat – virtually each & every food item is processed in some way or the other, may it be usage of growth hormones or genetic modifications (GMOs). And the worst part is most of us are not even aware of all this. Many individuals still feel that they have healthy diet practices. The standard diet of such people too is full of refined carbohydrates & sugars; severely lacking essential vitamins, nutrients & antioxidants.
Unfortunately, the result of all this is inevitable. Human bodies have gone dangerously deficient in nutrients to an extent of growing old prematurely with ailments like diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, early deaths at an all-time high. Even those who are relatively diet & health conscious are facing issues like low performance, fatigue, lack of stamina, weaker muscles & bones and lower resistance to diseases. Consumption of medication also may interfere with the absorption of nutrients. With growing age, digestive systems go down on functionality being unable to retain the necessary vitamins, minerals & other nutrients.
So, the only way to replenish these depleted levels of vital resources is dietary supplements. Supplements can help meet the higher nutritional needs due to more demanding lifestyle, stress and/or medical conditions. They may help decrease the risk of chronic diseases and reduce healthcare expenses too in the longer run and achieve optimum wellness! Moreover, this is not just healthy for your body, but is also equally light on your wallet! Time to go for it!
